Are you looking for a fast RFID asset verification or inventory counting solution? GRID-IN-HAND® Mobile Grid provides an excellent choice for this task. Mobile Grid supports many UHF and NFC reader models. Here we show Mobile Grid Android using the Scanfob® Ultra-BB2i UHF [RFID GEN2] reader.
To verify assets, Mobile Grid is assigned the ‘Show Missing’ Action Profile ["iWaveCount(tm) MGAP 'Show Missing' Mobile Grid Action Profile] The database [easy Excel, Open Office, CSV inventory counting, by RFID, find missing items] is loaded to the server account associated with the mobile device, then synchronized. Here a Kindle Fire HD tablet is used. [RFID UHF inventory] Verification begins manuallyor can be scheduled [schedule inventory times, or inventory based on GPS, etc]. The Ultra-BB2i is Bluetooth connected to the mobile and used to read the UHF asset tags. Each item is checked off the list as it’s found, so the user can easily monitor the progress. Once all the items are found, the user is notified. When assets are missing after the allotted time, an incomplete notification is shown, with the missing items highlighted.
This solution is available on most all Android & iOS devices, and can be used with many compatible RFID and NFC readers. Here we show the same solution using a Honeywell IP30 reader [formerly Intermec, GEN2 UHF reader]. The IP30 has longer range, and reads faster, however it’s not MFi [Made For iOS] certified like the Ultra-BB2i, so can only be used on Android. Note the count can also be done with an Android device attached to the IP30 [GEN2 RFID reader] as shown with the Galaxy S4 phone [Bluetooth Android phone & Tablets]
Inventory Counting can be done many ways, depending on requirements. In this example counting is done by serialized SKU tags. This enables RFID tags to reflect individual items having the same SKU. In this example, 6 digit SKU and index values are used. With this numbering system, the database only needs SKU and count values. Mobile Grid gets the tag value from the RFID reader and uses the 6 digit SKU to identify the row, and uses the index value to count individual items. [Read EPC, TID, User Data, RSSI]
Mobile Grid also supports using Barcode readers and RFID readers at the same time. For example here the Scanfob® 2002i scans the barcode, the database indicates 7 items in the box, and items are counted with the RFID reader. [scanning FedEx, UPS, DHL tracking number then count items in box via GEN2 RFID tags]
After the count, inventory reports are easily uploaded with a simple tap on the mobile device. The report can be sent as an Excel spreadsheet or CSV file via email, posted via FTP, inserted to SQL, posted via XML-RPC, or posted to an Internet file service like box.com [integrate RFID solutions to any back office data]
Mobile Grid provides solution profiles for many needs like asset tracking, inspections, field service, attendance management, trade shows, manufacturing, tool tracking, sales, and more.
