Laminating Your Paper ID Card to Keep it Smart and Fade Free

Lots of offices, clubs, schools, universities or other organisations give paper ID cards to its members. These cards are often kept in purses or wallets and regularly used. Before long smudges, fingerprints and creases can make ID cards look very tired or unreadable.  This can lead to problems when identifying your identity on the card. Also Paper cards are easy to reproduce fraudulently especially with photographs simply stuck on.

Regularly replenishing damaged or marked cards can be time consuming and is costly to the club or institution involved. It is cost effective and time effective to invest in laminating cards for members so that they last much longer as well as diminish fraudulent copies as they cannot be so easily reproduced.

Laminating membership cards is a very easy process using a heated or cold press laminator. Pouches are available that are membership card size. Simply put the membership card in the pouch and the pouch onto the laminating ‘carrier’. This is a card envelope that the pouches travel through the laminator in.

Heated laminators push the carrier though heated rollers, the heat activates the laminating pouch to seal onto the document.

Cold press laminators have an adhesive pouch that are activated by pressure through the rollers but seal the documents in the same way.

Around 6 membership cards can be laminated at any one time using a standard size A4 laminator. The laminator takes around 5 minutes to laminate and 2 min to cool down. (if using a heated laminator)

Once your membership cards have been laminated then they are resistant to water, heat, fingerprints, dirt, grease and creasing. They will last for years and remain legible and clear.

This will mean that ID cards will need to be replaced less often, not so easy to copy  and will look smarter for longer.
