RFID Credit Card Cases Will Protect Your Cards Against Theft

Do you know that the RFID chips being put into credit cards are a delight to thieves? With a small RFID scanner thieves can get your credit card numbers right through your pocket, wallet or purse without you knowing about it. It’s true.

My friend has had her card compromised twice. She found purchases on her statement that she didn’t make. Strange, because she still had her card in her purse. Hard to convince the bank that she didn’t make those purchases, when they were for reasonable numbers,$67.40, and $97.61, and at a near-by super market. But, though local, it wasn’t one she shops at. Plus she was visiting me that weekend, and I’m 80 miles away.

So how could this happen? We learned that the latest credit cards have a chip built into them which allows for RFID scanning. Radio Frequency Identification Scanning is the new thing for using charge cards because they don’t have to be swiped, they can just be scanned. Like they do UPC codes.

It is very much like the chips Veterinarians insert under the skin of pets so that their lost owners can be found. They scan them right through the skin and retrieve the information that was put on the chip. Wonderful for pets.

But, the bad guys can get a scanner very easily (try eBay). These scanners can work from a distance and scan right through your purse, pocket or wallet. They don’t have to bump into you nor even get close. They just point their hidden scanner at you. Now they’ve got your numbers and can create another credit card.

That’s what happened. She figures it happened at Disneyland. But, you don’t have to be at a resort to be caught by a thief. It could be in your own neighborhood. Her bank issued another card with new numbers, but, what a mess getting all her accounts changed.

She’s protected now, and so am I. We found an Aluminum credit card case at Amazon that is guaranteed to protect against RFID. They’re small, and sooo cute. I am a huge fan of Amazon.com. I love the fast shipping plus they have a really comforting money back guarantee that ensures you are satisfied with your purchase. They even tell you how to contact them if you’re not happy.

I shop at Walmart, among others, but I have always been pleased with the quality of Amazon products. Sometimes other stores have junk. Amazon has lots of these card cases, but both of us preferred the fancier one. It’s unique and more feminine.
