This is a smart shelf demo by goodXense.
We made this smart shelf demo last week using Amazon Echo (“Alexa”) as the voice interface to find shelf items by either color or size, or color and size. These are plastic trays made with a 3D printer. Each tray has an RFID tag inside. Under each shelf is an antenna. The RFID reader is an AWID MPR8018 under the lowest shelf, not visible in the video.
Smart shelf like this used to require several pieces of expensive enterprise software to pull off. We have made it like a simple web service (restful API and real-time data notification over websockets). The heavy lifting is done in the embeded middleware, which we had developed two years ago. This solution could scale to many shelves over many sites.
Instead of these plastic trays, imagine stacks of clothes of different colors and sizes.
