That easy method is by offering to track purchases on a punch card. You can affix small stamps calling out different denominations of spending. Then the card can be traded for some type of reward.
If you don’t want to hassle with stamps, try preprinting purchase tracking cards and then punching out the different denominations until all are accounted for. Be sure to find a unique pattern punch so an industrious person can’t collect cards, go home and punch them out without making the required purchases.
You can even simply line through and initial off the purchase amounts if the punch card idea seems too hard. Once again the key is to preprint cards with different denominations totaling up to a designated total amount. You or a trusted employee can handle all the work once each sale is completed.
Filled cards can be used for a free gift, or a discount on future purchases of dollar store merchandise. Make it more exciting by having those who redeem their punch cards also add contact information on the back and then drop them into a container for a drawing to be held at the end of the promotion.
